Lots of sediment. Nose shows raisins and VA, past peak. The palate is better with some sweet mature fruit and decent acidity that adds interest and lift.

Sensational Syrah that is still youthful and fresh with vivid flavors and tastes. Initially this wine demonstrated a spicy, anise nose with a grapey tint. Distinct and dominant black olive are overpowering to start in a charcoaled veil. Over time, notes of black cherry, tar and wild berry wrapped in white pepper become lively and vibrant. A backdrop of underbrush and black licorice add complexity and depth to this well aged red. A well defined, long lasting finish flashing fine grain tannins all the way through. Paired with wild vension medallions with shitake mushrooms and port wine sauce. In a good place right now, but can last well into 2011.

Pop and pour at a tasting. Rhone style. Black fruit, chocolate cherry, some peppered and smoked meat, truffle. Seemed fairly light bodied but carried significant alcohol. Plenty good, but seemed a bit reticent - I think it would have bloomed more and more over a few hours.

No tasting notes recorded. Drinking very well now, give is a \few minutes of air but for the most part this wine might be at it's peak. Nice.
