Decanted for an hour @ HRB. Cocktails and nibbles while the beast awakens. Very aromatic upon opening. Lived up to the nose on the palate. Lithe richness with layers of fruit and spice. Lingering finish. Paired well with Boeuf Bourgignon, Steak Frites and …yup, even Mussels in garlic and white wine. Thanks Cameron. Well done.

Ten Years On - 2012 Cabernet Sauvignons (Canoehead Central): Second wine tasted out of eight 2012 Cabernets so it was a material improvement over the faulty Cakebread VHR. Bright dark garnet. Rich extracted dark red fruits – cassis, Amarena cherry, baked plum and roasted fig. Great depth and concentration. Medium plus finish. Only placed fourth but there were some other outstanding wines in the mix.

I hadn’t expected to open this so soon, but unfortunately, one of my wine coolers froze over a few months back and partially pushed the cork out, so I decided to open this bottle.
IMHO, I like the wine, but maybe a bit over hyped? Even at the “discounted” price of $80 USD from the Lastbottle, it’s pricey, but IMHO there’s other offerings in the same price range which are as good, if not better: Juslyn Estate Cabernet Sauvignon; Signorello Estate Cabernet; Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve; and Kenefick Ranch Chris’s Cuvee. Agree we all have different palates, but my palate says this doesn’t have the “stuffing” or structure to last another ten years. Drink through 2027.

Excellent again. Still pretty early in its life, but super delicious. Lots of rich, dark fruit.
