Aromatics are wide-ass open on this tonight. Recent store purchase, so probably a tad more developed than it would be otherwise, but this is just getting to peak drinking. Still a brilliant straw yellow, slightly more gold than release. On the nose, fresh pineapple, hay, lemon pie, saline. Pretty similar on the palate, with a little buttercream to broaden the palate and a distinctive mineral component adding texture. Retains nice, bright acidity. Drink now and the next few years.

(Mostly) Enfield wines at Red and White (Chicago, IL): Easygoing, but fairly complex at the same time. Elegant, with a bit fruit that's nicely restrained. There's a wonderful steeliness to this that makes me again think that this didn't go through malo, but in fact, it did go through full malo. Agreeable and fresh, this is driven by minerality and acidity.

No formal notes. Well made wine, very light on the oak. Nicely balanced acid and good texture with bright citrus and mineraliy, this is an easy drinker and not much more than that.

Fun tasting at Weygandt Wines with John Lockwood. This was the first of four wines being poured. Medium pale yellow. A bit tight on the nose. A bit toasty with a touch of stone fruits. Moderate acidity (6.5/10) and light plus bodied. Well integrated with lemon zest and pears on the palate. Not oaky but a slight woody note and solid minerality in the backbone. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2019.

Nice chardonnay - has a long finish but still crisp. Not at all oaky. Notes of lemon curd and granite.
