94+pts. Almost no evolution compared to the bottle I drank on November 2017. Still very, very good though, although it is not superb enough to be considered an example of the upper echelon of German Grosse Gewächse in 2016.

But it is on the palate where this wine shines - creamy, really elegant, with notes of vanilla, pineapple, and lime, and tons of freshness. It's at the same time intense and light - there is nothing out of place, every component is in harmony with the rest. Of course this is still a baby and will develop further, but it is already delicious now. 94+pts.

After tasting the moderately mineral 2016 Langenmorgen GG, this is quite different - much darker, flinty, brooding on the nose, herbs, white stone fruit. On the palate restrained and compact with stunning energy and lift. Very mineral, lots of fruit and acidity, but everything is so well balanced and integrated. There is not a hair out of place. The finish is stunning. A complete wine, my favourite at this 2016 Pfalz GG tasting. 97-98+

This is quite good. Good acidity, touch of oak here, some exotic fruit notes. Some body. Overall quite nice but not a wow though.

Tastings in Italy and Germany - November/December 2017; 11/23/2017-12/1/2017 (Rome/Bernkastel/Cochem/Herborn): This was the first 2016 Riesling GG I have tasted, and came away impressed with it. On the nose, it has a typical von Winning profile, with more vanilla than one usually sees in a Riesling, but also passion and green apple, having some semblance to a cold-weather sauvignon blanc.

Tour VDP Große Lage -Start Berlin- Alternative: an Afternoon in Riesling-Heaven (Capital representative office of german telecom, Berlin): Again a step up in the portfolio of this Weingut, the new owner has increased quality to an unexpected level, vibrating all over swallowing, ripe peach, more stonefruit, great depth and salinity with a enormous length, supported by a strong acidity, **(**+ -?), 94+ potential
