Note from memory. There seems to be some bottle variation with this wine as this bottle came over as much more youthful than the previous one with a deep young color with little evolution, a bouquet with a lot of “umami” (beefstock) and a taste much more marked by the Syrah, with plenty of tannins. This is a nice wine but less complex than the cuvée Grand Romane of the same house. Drink it now or over the next 3 years.

80% Grenache and 20% Syrah fermented in concrete vats and aged fot 12 months in large wooden foudres and barrels (no new oak as far as I know). This is an easy, smooth drinking Gigondas. The color is medium deep with a brownish rim, typical for Grenache-based wines, easy on nose and palate with blackberries, licorice, some garrigue, ripe tannins and just enough acids for some freshness. No great depth but pleasant and worth its 15€ (in 2018). This is ready to drink and will (to my taste) not benefit from more aging.

Au nez : minéral...pierre/galet, fruits noirs...mûre, garrigue et épices. Un vin souple, fruité, rond, mi-corsé. Finale moyenne sur des notes de poivre. Boire d'ici 1-2 ans. 90+
