This port like fortified red is surprisingly good. Made from Bonarda grapes in Mendoza it shows raisins and some complex secondary notes from oak on the nose. On the mouth it's is very unctuous, sweet and almost correctly balanced. Eventhough the alcohol level is quite low for this type of wine (only 17.7%) it's still a little hot, I guess the bonarda can't give it enough structure to the ideal balance. The finish is long, complex and very savoury. A nice effort from the great Catena Zapata Bodega.
