  The best of 3 bottles and better on day 2, so not at peak IMO although enjoyable now and not as fussy as bottle #2 2.5 years ago. Less rich and more versatile at the table than some Marsanne based Rhones in my mix this year.

  Served at 56 degrees. Started out pleasant, but hollow, with light yellow fruits and straw, but gained depth in the decanter from a toffee note on the nose and honeydew on the palate. Round but not sweet, with subtle minerality and nice persistence. Eventually I returned it to the bottle for a little chill down but only after it got to room temp. 89-90 this time. Hold.

  Minerals and straw, balsawood, hint of melon. Showed more with each sip, but the nose was decidedly closed for business. Decant while young or hold. This wine deserved a more subtle occasion than this particular dinner party. 87-88 out of the bottle but expect greater things down the road & under ideal serving conditions.
