Dark Red through to the edges, still young and pumping iron. excellent fruit, Blackberry and cassis, hints of licorice and mint, dark chocolate and xmas pudding, Subtle oak and smooth tannins. A delight now and will develop further in the years to come. 93.

Tomato bush and tobacco. I’ve had this vintage half a dozen times and it never fails to satisfy. Juicy little red berries with some black and blue fruit thrown in. It has licks of herbs, sugar, spice and other things nice. Good thwack of acidity still, and fine ashen tannin. Only a hint of mint, though others at the tasting found mint more than I did. Perhaps it blows off with time in the glass/decanter. Anyway, speaking of time, this wine is becoming more textural. 93+

(Surprising) wine of the night given the wines on the table. This could be had for under $30 on release. A key vintage. Rich, savoury, but balanced. Ripe plum and cherry, with only the faintest touch of Coonawarra mint and the finest dark chocolate through the finish. This felt a lot like a fine McLaren Vale Cabernet. Tannins melt, and are completely absorbed in to the wine providing a structure for a very long drinking window. Outstanding, drinking well now and expect to do so for another 5 years before thinning out some. Wow.
