Tasted blind. Guessed Beaujolais due to the grapey aromas and soft structure. Plumper than most Beaujolais wines, this wine lacked the pinot-like elegance and floral aromatics that I like in Beaujolais.

Really dark deep colour, increasing my suspicion that some semi-carbonic was involved here. Nose heightens my suspicion: hints of cinnamon, bubble gum, and red liquorice, although this drinks like a structured, fairly serious cru. Tart red fruits (cranberries, pie cherries, raspberries, pomegranate, red plums) and some black (black cherries, black raspberries, black plums), largely fresh and bright, with a delicate seasoning of roses, lilacs, incense, nutmeg, green cardamom. Some classic Morgon ripe peach. A little tobacco suggestive of development. A fiercely pure expression of Gamay at its concentrated best.

Really nice nose..wonderfully scented notes of cherry, roses, strawberry, fresh spring......tip and mid tongue freshness with strawberry pie, spice wrapped in lingering tart cherry, tannic drying wrap up....... This wine is excellent and will benefit from 2-5 years of aging... IMPORTANT NOTE.... as other reviewer noted, the cork was soaked almost to the top so not sure if it will become compromised over time... normally I would wish it WAS a cork soaker!! P.S. did I mention it was a great QPR?

Lovely Morgon. Blackcurrant, blackberries, cherries. Slightly tannic - should have some ageing potential.
Fuller than what you'd expect from a gamay. I found it quite non-typical for the grape.
Cork fully OK (saw some other reviewers mentioned soaked corks).
