Amana Skiers: Pw/chilled. Stunning stuff. Clear, light/med straw color. Huge nose with oak, chalk, stone. BK makes just superb Chardonnay. This is a good a VY rivaling Sobranes, my favorite. Clean, fruity, light oak and vanilla, lots of sharp juicy fruit with excellent balance. Nothing off, long finish. $61 winery direct.

A solid expression of the Gap's site, reminding me a bit of the Kosta Browne 4-Barrel program (though not as rich or oak infused), this Black Kite decidedly pushes out focused and determined flavors of lemon yellow citrus, candied ginger, tropical fruit, and the slightest kiss of brioche and honey. Light on its feet in its energetic drive, but well-weighted mid-palate. A very balanced effort. The slightest alcoholic clip on the back end stunts the fruit from completely sailing on through the finish; another year in bottle should solve this issue. Much more delineated and sophisticated than the richer and more plush 2015 Soberanes Chardonnay.
Drinking more than fine now, but another 6-12 months in bottle will likely smooth it out even more. 93+ points for now.

low acid, slight honey character, rich fruit, slightly buttery. not as bright and vibrant and fun as when first bottled.
