I pretty much agree with the reviews on this. I'm rarely above a 94 rating and this is definitely deserving of a 96. Just a superb wine all the way to the last drop. The velvet finish make up for the lack of layers that others have pointed out. Only disappointment is that I had to share half with my wife!

An amazing concentration, purity of fruit, lots of complexity with oak notes yet not overly big, or alcoholic, really well balanced with a beautiful middle and finish. Quite the wine.

Pouring a dark purple-black color, with a nose that instantly rockets up the nostrils with fresh wet muddled black cherries and wild blackberry aromas, the 2016 Vice Versa LPV lets you know way ahead of time that you’re going to be in for a dramatic performance. On the palate, chocolate covered cherries, tar, ripe purple plum, and blackberry notes surge with wonderfully controlled persistence, counterbalanced and centered by wet mulch, black rock, and clove notes. The tail carries a whip of alcohol that, with air, manages to dissipate and allow the flavors to form in proper rhythm.
It’s been over three years since I last sampled this wine; time has deepened its profile even further (who would’ve thought that was possible). It takes the better half of two hours in the decanter to fully shed the alcohol on the back end, but once it drops into its fully unctuous core, the depth and lower pitched black fruit really start to present in slick and slathery fashion. The tannins are big but never burdensome, with a silky-meets-chewy buildup in texture and mouthfeel that engulf the palate without pummeling it. Amazingly fresh for such a dark wine. The concentration and intensity of the 2016 vintage show in all their glory here, with no signs of shutting down at this point. This is just how I love my LPVs to behave. A gorgeous showing.
Drink now with a 2-3 hour decant or hold for a few more years to shed some of the perceived alcohol on the finish. This 2016 is reminiscent of the amazingly vibrant 2019 Vice Versa LPV. 98-99+ points for the 2016.

Powerful and rich. A little too big for my tastes but did have balance and the fruit quality is there.
