La Festa del Barolo: A Taste of Verduno (Locanda Verde): From a 3L and just rocking. The best word for this is energetic. It’s all bright and bold and powerful and slightly funky for a champagne but in the best possible way. All sorts of different flavors and constantly evolving. It was a smallish group at the end of a big dinner taking down a big bottle but it was kindof perfect.

From magnum; this was tight and ungiving to start, but over some time opened up to show spice and earth notes, some lemon peel and orange blossom. Very fresh and vibrant, but lovely depth. Needs time, but has good potential.

A private dinner with friends (at home): Disgorged 18 September 2017, 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, fermented in oak, manual remuage, 6909 bottles produced, zero dosage. Very pure and direct style, floral nose, vinous Chardonnay character, spicy minerality, dry but supple, ripe but fresh acidity, yeasty complexity, good length. A far cry from grande marque style - very much a grower champagne.

My favorite wine with the Rose from Vinvent Laval. Very pure, chalky and some lemon fruits. Precise finish. 94
