  • I see these all the time in the cellar yet somehow this is my first bottle in 5 years. The aromas are very nice and clean, showing pleasing soft, supple red fruits and a really nice licorice note. The wine is a little slight in scale on the nose, but what it presents comes across as really beautifully integrated, soft, and smooth. I just wish the volume was slightly higher. Palate enters soft and smooth, but integrated tannins do begin presenting themselves soon. The flavors are again fairly bright, showing some tannin covered raspberries, blueberries, briar, and garrigue. The finish still shows some bitter tannins as the first flavor, but as this recedes, you're left with some bright raspberry and blueberry fruits, but covered in mushroom powder. A really nice wine, but still quite primary. Perhaps I'll wait another 5 years again! Nah... but maybe 2-3.

  • Sometimes there's nothing I love more than an encounter with a textbook example of a given region or style, and this is that; blue and purple fruit, just a hint of green pepper, a bit of gravel and lovely freshness. Grippy tannin, lightly spicy finish. Rustic and old-school but tasty, tasty, tasty.

  • Purchased at Serpico. Excellent pairing with a fabulous meal of many different flavors.

  • Opened one hour in advance. Aroma of spicy black fruit. Flavors of cherries and cassis, with some tobacco in the finish. This is already fleshed out and delicious, but still quite young. A screaming value, as always. Wish I had more.

  • Note taken on day 2, open to air the whole time. It was better on day 2. Bought the same time as the '14 Prestige and this is a much superior wine to that. The color here is surprisingly dark for what I would expect in 2016 from the Cuvee Domaine... quite purple in complexion. That intensity follows through to the flavors, too, as this shows lovely rich blueberry tones on the nose, charcoal and minerals, all on an expression that feels well balanced and quite luscious and round. The palate is luscious and full, round, with tannins hitting hard after just a few seconds of it sitting, but that texture remains smooth and sweet, showing similar blue fruited flavors and again, tannic intensity that dials up as its held on the palate. This balances with integrated acidity. The whole structural balance of this wine is on point. Finish begins both smooth from the fruit and intense from the sharp acidity that carries into the decently long finish. This is an darling of a wine to consume today or in 15 years. The 2015 stepped up the game for the Cuvee Domaine, in my experience, and this is a killer follow on. Not quite as complete as that wonderful vintage, but still an incredible QPR king of the hill.
