Decanted by the restaurant for ~5-hrs before serving in the (non-blinded) flight of the '17 Faiveley Rodin & the '93 L. Trapet Chambertin. With the Trapet showing/tasting "differently" from the two '17s, the table immediately gravitated to comparing the Rousseau & Faiveley. Both equally refined & regal, the Faiveley appeared to be immediately more showy whereas the Rousseau required us to almost pay attention and explore what it had to offer... which was aplenty... Beautiful nose of red-cherries, roses, sandalwood/spice that kept building on with air (in glass), it was surely alluring & attractive (if one allowed it time). Layered & complexed, this was all wrapped up in a satiny red-robe of strawberries, red-cherries, with an elegant long tail in tow. This should develop further with more cellar age and definitely bring about more pleasure downstream. Already tasty, best to still hold for more development...

My first Rousseau Chambertin and Im not disappointed but I did not rate it 100 pointer because it still need a lot of ageing time. At this moment, if tasted blind, it’s hard to understand why this wine command such exorbitant price. But the magic will begin once this wine reach a suitable drinking time. For me, if it's a treat from friend, do not open this wine and keep it as long as you can (if possible without any temptation).

Not sure what was up with this bottle. It was awkward and never really got going even on day two. Hopefully this was a one off as I have loved this wine recently.

Weekend in Michigan with Wine; 8/5/2023-8/6/2023 (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI): Popped-and-poured. Something was off here vs my previous experience with this from 2022 as well as general expectations. Lots of new oak spice and bright red and black cherry with good (enough) weight and density. Soft finish. Served double blind, and all I got right was that this was from Burgundy... I thought this Vosne 2014 Vosne!
Asian Spice says this did not get better on Day Two.
