  • Deep gold color, a startling color that is not the same as the orange of some old Sauternes or the deep gold yellow of aged white burgundy. Really remarkable. Nose has a ripe peach, honey, sweet honeysuckle, lanolin- something preparing you for a sweet wine like a baumes de venise or something. Yet the taste comes as a bit of a shock: high salinity and minerality along with restrained notes of grapefruit, raisins, almonds, with a touch of honey at the finish. Having tried the 2011 and 2012 , I can say that this is the first bottle where I feel I can see what the winemakers are really trying to do, and also the first time I think I can trust them when they say this is a wine appropriate for aging. I might be wrong about that, but I have a bottle each left of the ‘12 and 13 and intend to treat them like a great white Rhône and see what happens.....
