First of this vintage tasted. Ruby color and amazingly translucent for such a densely planted syrah. I wondered if it was really a mislabeled grenache! Powerful nose, typical of Cayuse, with roasted meat, charred wood and anise. The flavors match, of cassis, black cherries and blackberries. Definite anise in the late palate and long aftertaste. There's also a slight bitterness which detracts a bit, which hopefully will blow off with more time. Fully mature but should easily hold five or more years. Ric

Decanted this bottle 48 hours in advance o drinking and then left it in an open decanter. This wine is classic Cayuse style, lots of smoked meat and funk. The long decant helped. It is a unique wine and only for those that appreciate this style.

Strange and definitely distinctive. Fruit and olive, very powerful, couldn't shake a slightly unpleasant salty licorice taste. Didn't get much better the next day. A bit disappointing

Classic syrah, big dark fruit, blackberry, plum, bacon fat, smoked meat is very forward on the nose, leather and spice, long finish

Tasting really good right now, and probably at the front end of the curve. These have lovely fruit but need time
