  • Nicely balanced. Flavours more towards a sweet berry/dried berry/incense/fruitcake style rather then bitterness. Some sandalwood and cedar as well. Dusty smooth tannins. Medium acidity. Shows good structure. A nice drinking wine with complexity but not a "wowing" wine. Drank this over 3 days and it was still showing nicely.

  • No formal notes, just very enjoyable drinking. Smooth with no harsh edges.

  • - Crimsom color. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of violet, prune, dusty and alcohol with a medium body. Coarse texture with a medium finish - Overall underwhelmed . Expected more considering other reviews. A bit thin.

  • Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

≈20 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then capped; NO visible sediment; Private Preserve after Day 1

N: RIPE blkberries/blk rasps with flowers & notes of minerals

P: MF body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it leads into a LONG, balanced, ult pleasant finish with a tangy/swtness to the still firming, very, VERY fine tannins. Unlike the relatives :( , I thought it did fine with the night's Smkd BBQ Chx & Mujadara (Rice/Lentils/Carmelized Onions), > so when BBQ sauce was added to the Chx. For me personally, flirting with EXC, but I'd have to say EXC- as the relatives weren't fans. :(
// Day 2: Aromatically, showing creaminess, pyrazines, & an oxidative note which were not present previously. P: LM, poss Med, body; Still showing balance, & its acidity allowed it to work with the night's Estofado (AR&IT)/Spinach Noodles which also included Pesto.
∑: A food friendly style to be consumed over the next 2 yrs. My EXC- (90,91/100 using that metric). [As of mid Aug '20, wine-searcher still shows 2 sources @ $34 & $36].

    Note: Also tasted on 3/17, 3/24, & 7/14/18, + 5/18/20.

  • I liked this more than the previous bottle I had. This one shows more youthful, with a round mouthfeel and soft tannins. The berry fruit on the palate is fresh and has good concentration. This wine has some Burgundian characteristics that are appealing. Drink or hold.
