PnP. Dark ruby. Nose of smoked brisket with some subdued cherries. The palate has brisk acidity, then smoke, red meat, dark cherries, grippy tannins, oak. This is my third bottle - I had the first two a couple years ago and I thought it was better than it is now. Good with a homemade cheeseburger, >$20 I can't complain too much but I had much better Chiantis for the price.

Crimson-purple; blackberries, blueberries, smoked meat, tobacco, black pepper, black licorice; ripe blackberry/plummy, licorice, vanilla, rich, medium-full body, decent acidity, ripe tannins, lingering finish. Ripe berry flavour with savoury element and rich mouthfeel. Could mistake for a good Aussie shiraz.

Table wine. Did not cringe after drinking this, but would not buy again. Fruit on the mid-palate is reticent. Body is mild. I don't think that's good for a Syrah. There is acid, signaling this is probably Old World in origin, but it is mild to moderate. Not one iota of spiciness. Lacks varietal signature. It is generic redness. There are other wines out there that do better, even at this modest price range.

Great earth and currant notes but light in the mouth. Not much complexity. Inexpensive sipper but that’s it
