Decanted about 2hrs prior to enjoying. On PnP the bottle was very tight and a astringent but opened nicely. Round wine with beautiful notes of red fruit and acidity. Definitely will continue to lay the remaining bottles I have down for another 5+ years.

deepish purple red color, muted nose, dark fruits, zesty and penetrating dark spices, brooding, tense, on the palate tight and quite tannic, good depth of chalky cherry and cassis fruit leading quickly into totally closed finish akin to what one often sees in a young Lafleur or Trotanoy, with a couple of hours in glass this opened a bit to reveal a wine that- in time- will be at the least very good, but given this winery's admirable track record overall- I suspect it is likely to turn out to be great, strong potential here- but time must tell the tale as this is a fairly new wine and is in deep hibernation at present, that said I am feeling very good about the future here.

Deeply colored and bursting with black currant, plum and berry Cabernet fruit. Violets, a bit of licorice and graphite with a little underlying savory notes. Really well shaped if young and structured. The tannins are undeniable and solid but not aggressive. This should turn out to be a stellar Santa Cruz Cabernet. I think a few more years to integrate will take it to new heights.

Wow. On day 2: Lovely aromas of mint, eucalyptus, sage. Those and violets and earth notes on the palate. I forgot how good a classic Napa can be. Day one lovely nose but not much giving on the palate. Day 2 – so smooth and well put together. I drank this alongside a 2016 of one of my favorite WA cab producers. This appears smoother and silkier in the glass – and that translates to the nose and palate. I am letting my others sleep for years. The tannins are very present but very smooth. This is superb.

PnP. Not memorable. No real fruit. Flat. I don’t see how this will improve.
