Always a privilege to open a Marguet. This one has a most pleasant nose, oscillating between chalk, pear, a touch of vanilla and mustard seed (!). It’s noble with an ethereal effervescence.
In the mouth, this 2013 certainly does not have the magnificent smoothness of the 2012 that I drank a few months before and which had made a strong impression on me, but here the juice is more energetic, still a little compact - it will loosen at aeration - with very slight oxidation. The acidic frame, tinged with vanilla notes, is magnificent, allowing the tension of aromas of peaches, almonds, wet stone and pear. It's already deliciously complex, and it all ends with a lovely floral finish that stretches over a chalky length.
Excellent champagne, and the best is yet to come in my opinion. I really like this cuvée.

100% Chardonnay that they buy from another grower. Grapes come from 2 great terroirs: Les Chantereines in Avize with vines planted in 1982 and Les Fouches du Levant in Cramant with vines planted in 1971. Oak aged, no sulphites, zero dosage.

Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with balanced and well-integrated, high acidity. The feel is refined and deep with lemon peels, white fruits, peaches, green apples, pears, white florals, and crushed rocks.
Overall: This is a fantastic, young champagne. There is great balance, poise, and depth at this young stage and it certainly has the ability to develop further.

Champagne Trip- Day 3 (Gaston Chiquet, Pierre Paillard, Marguet, JC Mouzon) (Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, Champagne, France): Nose: The nose is pristine and focused with lemon peels, white fruits, pears, green apples, peaches, white florals, almonds, and crushed rocks. There is great depth and balance that makes you just want to keep smelling it.
