  • Clearly an off bottle. My wife even asked if it was spoiled. Cocoa was the only flavor that came through, with an underlying alcohol burn. No fruit at all on this one. I'd had a bottle of this in 2018 which was fine, but this was nothing like a Grenache.

  • Wine Bros Australia Deep Dive (Orsay): All raspberry and fruity and yes a bit more heft to it but it feels decently balanced. I think back in the day this might have been one of my favorites from Torbreck and I can see why. It’s a slightly hedonistic but fun wine.

  • When comptemplating the best wines of Australia it is difficult to not include Les Amis...This 100% Grenache is sourced from vines of up to 150 years old. The result....just class. The nose explodes with powerful notes of strawberries, figs, currents, dried rose petals, bay leaves and tree moss. The palate is powerful yet shows true elegance and class with big red rich fruits, savoury spices, soya sauce, liquorice, dark chocolate along with velvety tannins and a smooth, savoury and long finish. Alcohol is what is stopping from scoring this higher, around 15.5%, not fully integrated not sure at what point this will be in it's prime. 95+

  • This is like a vinous cherry ripe bar, all chocolate and cherry with a sprinkling of desiccated coconut. It is velvety and dense, with loads of dry extract to the back-end and an extremely long finish.

  • Best Grenache tried in Australia. This is just class all the way. Full of fresh black cherry, sweet red plums, along with notes of tobacco, sweet spices, cedar and a whiff of smoke. This has a soft palate, with highly refined and a precise tannin structure. The length is refined and elegant all the way. Only 150 cases made, so beg borrow or steal at least a bottle of this, I know I did! 100% Grenache, grown in the Greenock district in Barossa from the Slade Vineyard. The vines are dry grown and hand harvested. Upon which they spend 8 days in cement vats, before spending 24 months in french oak. Drink now over the next 20 years! 96-97
