This was the last bottle of the 2001s I bought. It is at the tail end of the peak of its life, still very good. Smooth tannins, the kind that don't feel engineered. Blackberry with blueberry with long pleasant finish. Drink up.

Drank at Oswald's, with flank steak. Lots of black fruit flavors, could still have used another year (at least) of aging to break down some of the slightly rough edges. All in all, however, a very nice wine.

Anita House: Thanksgiving dinner (after Ramsay PN); Opaque purple--almost black; Huge rich nose, ripe blackberries, almost candied, with a little cassis/cranberry in the a’s; also smokey, sweet leather in there, rich wet earth; soft supple mouth, full bod, very nice fin, fairly long.***Very nice wine, only remark for score is that it maybe was a bit overwhelming for turkey dinner.

Brian’s: Ripe, dark berries, cassis, intense, w/out being overbearing; subtle wood, dusty, leather; lightish body, elegant, perfectly bal. t’s. Complex, flavors changed, nice fin. M&D too.
