  • Happy International Malbec day, celebrating with my favorite Malbec producer. From the Nicasia Vineyard at 3,593 ft. Grapes fermented with 50% whole clusters, all in wooden barrels. Aged in cases for 16 months. Rich, dark fruits, blackberry, blueberry, cocoa, leather, minerals

  • Another from my favorite Malbec producer. From their Nicasia vineyard. This one was a little leaner, not as luscious fruits. oak blackberry chocolate leather blueberry

  • Dark berries and cherries in the bouquet. On the palate juicy dark berries, beautifully dosed oak and elegance. Beautiful wine.

  • Lovely, this wine is coming into its own.. in a good place now with 1 hour full decant and another 1 hour slow-ox in the bottle.

Nose was so fragrant, intoxicating blend of red fruits with some purple flowers too.

That Malbec purple hue was all there as well. Fresh palate and full bodied, plenty of silky plum notes and developing chocolate finish as well.

1st of 6 bottles, I had to pick an Argentine Malbec as RL, CL, YL Leong, DJ, WH and KK di Don Julio at Mont Kiara. Yes, an Argentinian steakhouse!

  • with a 3hr decant, a highly fragrant bouquet with juicy black currant and red berries, flowers and mint. palate is bright and fresh with lots of acidic punch, green and herbaceous flavours, and white pepper. quite good but unsure about the QPR... for the same $, i would recommend two bottles of the catena alta malbec over one of these.

24hrs on, this has softened remarkably and dropped some of the sharpness. a much more pleasant mid palate profile and a longer mineral finish. i stand by my earlier value comment but am upping the score based on this showing accordingly. 91-92
