  • Lithe, refined Chardonnay, expressing a core of Chablis-like minerality and tart, lemon citrus, reflecting its mountain vineyard site. Long, persistent finish elevates the 2017. Best with 2 hours of air (or even the next day) at 50 F. Starting to put on a little more weight.

  • See my earlier note dated 11/05/2021, incredibly beautiful Chardonnay.

  • A wow bottle of surpassing beauty. Not monumental but in every other respect, perfect. If you love Grand cru or Premier cru Chablis, this is right up your alley.

I would put this in the top five of Chardonnays I've ever had, only yielding to a 1969 Domaine LeFlaive Bâtard Montrachet I had many years ago, which of course had an unbelievable voluptuousness few wines can emulate. This Linden has a diamond prism of mineral and citrus scents, a sweet/tart mid-mouthfeel of sur lie complexity and intrigue, and a finish delicate but persistent. From every angle, just perfect. Incredibly it is currently available.

  • At the open:
Smells of white flowers and gun flint with a hidden citrus element
Tastes of charred wood and lemon citrus.
Bracing high acidity, almost phenolic on the gums.

This is a heavy, dense, and compact wine that needs to age. It may have a lot to say in 3-5 years time, but it is hard to engage with it at present.
