  • A dark fruited savory CC with cured meat, black licorice, iron, and dried herbs. Mid plus weighted structured and firm. It's rustic, meaty, and savory much more than fruit driven. Like drinking meat. Reminds me a bit of Canalicchio di Sopra. On day 2 some fruit came out, but still behind a wall of savory, meaty, earthiness. fruit came out, but this decidedly rustic wine is serious, a little brusque, and not my favored style of CC. I will hold my remaining bottles for several years to see what happens.

  • Very much in development and still trying to find balance. Right now this comes across as very terroir driven with blackened, charred earth; savory notes; and some noticeable gaminess. Red florals with red fruits, which are tart and somewhat undefined are still trying to integrate. Highly structured with high acidity and tannins which need additional time to come together. Long finish. Requires both decanting and food...tonight, it was a Pepperoni pizza which seemed to lessen some of the still rough edges...huge upside potential with a couple more years in the bottle. Recommend food and decant near term.

  • Subtle cherry, earth, leather. Not overtly tart like some Chianti, nicely balanced.

  • Leather, darker strawberry fruit, and gamey meaty notes. This is structured and a little compact at this point in time. This is more savory than fruit driven with a nice sense of minerality. Meaty venison like notes with a little brett that at first is enough to distract, but with time fades enough to add some interest. Very good but still quite young.

  • Good years for Chianti - paired with a pecorino that really brought out a lot of the more subtle notes of the wine; bright fruit and spices
