Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 91.7 points

  • Decanted for an hour or two before service. Tasted non-blind over an hour on Day 1, and then revisited on Day 2. Purple-fruited and savory (olives and bay leaf) on the Nose. Clean. Medium bodied. Zesty and light-footed for a Petite Sirah. Good acidity. Medium tannins, but I don't get the sense they're locking-up much flavor. Savory and purple-fruited on the palate, too. Paired nicely with pot roast and veg.. Completely primary, but drinking well nonetheless. Drink or Hold.

  • PnP. Strong dark fruit and sawdust nose and black pepper. Firm black cherry with a ton of dried herbs, some cola notes, dried flowers. Oak-led finish with earth, menthol, and black fruits. This should develop and open up with further complexity. 92+ points.

  • 2018, served at 64 degrees, 1 hour decant.

Gorgeous bouquet, lovely on the nose. Deep violet color.

Acidic, herbal from front to back. Moderate spice and dark fruit. None of us tasting found significant depth yet, after opening I wish I had kept this in the cellar for another 3+ years.

Improved over the 2 hours we enjoyed this bottle. I would recommend a longer decant and not opening the 2018 for another few years. Definitely a fun bottle to taste with friends.

  • -- decanted immediately before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --

NOSE: very savory --- green olives; stems(?)

BODY: medium bodied; violet color of great depth.

TASTE: high acidity; stemmy (or something stems-like); zesty; very tannic; 13.8% alc. not noticeable; comes across as very cool climate; a very unique, fun, interesting, and composed take on Peitite Sirah. I'm very interested to see how this takes to age --- it will be challenging to keep my hands off, however. Gut impression score: 91 – 94. Need to have another bottle to take a more careful look, as this bottle was consumed with guests, and my attention was largely diverted from the wine.
