La Fête de La Paulée in Chicago (Formento's - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Very good wine for the future with some hints of pleasure, but firm, dense and backward, despite quite elegant tannins and excellent concentration. Cellar to 2025 or 2030 or later. Probably 92-93+ point potential.

This is a big, meaty, muscular beast. There's loads of fruit, oak and structure. It starts off a little ungainly but comes together nicely in the glass. The fruit is ripe with notes of cassis and liqueur cherry. It is chunky and intense and has complex meat and game flavours. It lacks a little finesse but has plenty of horsepower.
