  Double decanted this wine alongside a 16 Lokoya Mt Veeder for about 7 hours before drinking. Both could have used even more time and air.
  
  Violets, creme de cassis, hints cedar, crushed stone, black cherries and spice box emanate from this beauty. Gorgeous dark hued purple in the glass. Strikingly fresh and taut on the palate, this displays the vintage beautifully with exceptional tension and purity. The fruit is present (way more so than the Lokoya had alongside), but it's restrained and complemented by earth and mineral driven elements. It's not locked up, but still tight, with many layers left to unfurl as time goes on. It's extremely focused and has tremendous length. You won't mistake this for a warmer vintage, or an extracted valley floor wine. Tons of sophistication. 98 today, but can easily work its way into those next two points.

  A fun night, 2018 Magnificent 7, 2011 Dana Estates Hershey, 2010 VHR. Upon opening and 15 minutes in the decanter (open for 4 hours) order was Mag 7 and Dana with VHR far behind. By the end of the night, VHR was the clear winner with Mag 7 very far behind. I hate, yep used that word, the 2011 vintage to the point I refuse to drink it when offered but have a few left in the cellar so why not open? This was probably the best 2011 to date for whatever that’s worth.
  
  Not going to rate as this wine is not ready for primetime (like most 2018). Best experience was shortly after opening and then slowly drifted towards an acidic tannic wine that has not integrated the sum of its parts. If the wine integrates its parts it will be killer, if not...
  
  One thing to note is upon opening, the Dr stuck its head out to say hi before receding to never be seen again.
  
  I would suggest not even opening to take a peak for at least one full year and really waiting a minimum of 2-3. Note to self, don’t drink next bottle until late 2023 or early 2024.
