When first opened and poured, it was unyielding. With air, dark cherry notes became prominent, almost giving it a new world feel, but still retaining an old world style. Clerget did well this solar vintage.

A little heavier/denser that I was expecting but very enjoyable. Took a few minutes to blow off a little bit of the barnyard that dominated at opening. Black cherrys, 5 spice, blackberry, rhubarb. Pleasant clay tannins.

A blend of two parcels, one 65 year old and the other 45 year old. 35hl/ha. No new oak. Great concentration and density for a village Volnay. Densely packed bouquet of dark berries and fresh earthy note. Some dry extract with good phenolic ripeness. A village Volnay with substantial substance and depth. (84/100)
Domaine Tasting at Y Clerget (Pommard): 2 parcels averaging 45 y/o vines. Full nose with overt ripe red fruit. Rich and ripe on the palate but with good underlying freshness. Plenty of stuffing, though a bit short now though I'd expect this to lengthen out with more time given how well this wine has showed in 2015/2016/2017. 88-90
