  • Unfortunately my bottle had a mild cork taint problem and I hoped it could resolve itself with a few hours of decanting but that proved futile. Still, the undercurrents were strong and deep; persistent leather, cedar and licorice but the fruit was mostly gone. Past prime with heavy tertiary flavors.

  • Fully mature and very much alive. Tannins have resolved over the years but still structured and long.

  • Holding up well. Cherries on the nose. A slight hint of green that blew off after an hour in the decanter. Balanced, medium bodied and a good finish. Very good. Could last another decade or so easily.

  • No rating as I have no experience with this age of Bordeaux. Purchased for £40 on bid for wine with no label (capsule and cork for proof of chateau/vintage). Total punt but I quite enjoyed it. A bit of brett on opening, disappeared after 15 mins. Tannins totally integrated. Very sweet, strawberry laces as my friend put it, we have no idea if this is correct? We didn’t get much of the cedar/forest floor that others commented but some of the umami soy sauce notes were there. It fell off but not really quickly.

  • Wow, I have heard tell that this was one of the great Talbots and I now believe it. This wine is a testament to 1986 and old bordeaux as a group. The one low point here was a touch of green on the palate. The wine was well integrated in all facets with plenty of fruit in the tank. Best wine of the past week for sure. 96
