This improved substantially after being open for a couple weeks. Walnuts, brown sugar, and a bit of citrus. What really distinguishes this is the deep, smooth acidic cut and long finish. This was good to very good upon opening, but this wine proves, once again, that old Madeira thrives with air.

By the glass. A real jewel to finish this tasting. Concentration does not prevent appearance of finesse and elegance. Supposedly it remains more of eighty years in used barrels. Vegetable aromas with an endless complexity. Length with endless depth too. A real privilege to drink bottles like this. It deserves every euro paid and all the praise from tasters. Oldest vintage I ever tasted.

Tasted at Bern's Mahogany color. Pretty nose with a lift from the VA with great freshness. Hint of butterscotch, caramel, coffee and more -- extremely complex and elegant. A wine to sip and think about. Just outstanding. Very pretty. Shows some sweetness, but has balancing acidity that comes all together and keeps it from being at all heavy. Very long finish with alternative waves of acidity, sweetness, and a hint of bitterness. Close to perfection and one of best Madeiras I have had.

Really complex, subtle yet compelling berried fruits and spice and nuttiness; a touch volatile but lovely complex flavours which build to mahogany and smooth antique wood. Hard to describe but certainly enjoyable.

The ‘20 Blandy’s Bual shows apricot, sultana, macadamia - the lighter side of mature Bual.
