Maybe because it’s the first week of school and I don’t have my teacher sea legs under me. Maybe it’s because it’s my 22nd year teaching and finding the energy to do this is taxing. Maybe I just need a drink. Whatever the reason, this cab hits the right notes. The oak is there but in a good way framing the plum and dark berry notes. Its a drink now wine that will wait for you. It’s good on its own but good with a steak, I’m sure. Good times.

A solid, single vineyard cab from Washington. At a good price at the local Grocery Outlet but the winery price for the current vintage seems fair as well. At first the alcohol comes in a little hot but that dissipates. What you get is solid, food friendly acidity and fruit that veers toward bright red fruit and avoids any jammyness. There are definite oak notes but nothing overwhelming. Ultimately, a balanced, enjoyable, and well-priced cab.

Lots of raspberry. Solid body and a finish that lingers.
