So muscular. Didn’t show the typical finesse of good burgundy. If you’re going to open this bottle, give plenty of time for decant. Or better yet, hold on for a few more years.

CV lunch at Nicolas. Semi-blind. Aired in decanter for about 2 hours already by the time we got to it. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, dark ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of black fruits, toast wood, dark earth, muscle met. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of licorice, glossy black cherries, blackberries, dark minerals, dark earth, bits of tar. Very long finish. Very good quality. Damm serious. My usual impression of the muscular meaty type of Clos Vougeot. Years away from peaking. Give this another 6-8 years easily. From the lower part of the Clos indeed.

Dark color. On the nose, rather closed, with dense black cherry fruit and a licorice note. On the palate, this is huge, with fairly massive tannins. Deep black fruit, cocoa and a soy sauce note. This clearly needs a lot of time - say, 10+ years - in the cellar, but I think the underlying material here is quite impressive.

Iron and earth. Deep and rich. Stony and cool. So much power and chew. Muscular and far from ready.
