  • Needed a few hours to show- and then the window was rather small for optimal enjoyment. Strong up-front palate biter- and maybe that’s just the age showing. It did drink well on day 2, but was all but cooking wine after that. Very ripe cherry, typical Tuscan-esque complexity with nice little nuances of… cardamom? Not exactly sure. It was a good bottle. Would have likely been better to drink last decade. I still have a 2008 & 2011 Naga, so maybe those will show a bit better. I still have high hopes for the 2010 Judith.

  • Very consistent with note from last January. Even better now with longer flavor persistence and less of an edge on the tannins. Uber-ripe strawberry and cherry with a strong floral bouquet, showing the Sangio component nicely. Might even go up a point to 93 on my scorecard

  • I don't know whether I'm drinking the label on this one, but I'm very impressed. I need to go back to the shop and buy another bottle or two, as I wasn't taking notes during the tasting (I guess I haven't learned anything from soyhead). I do recall that although the Naga was ready to drink now, I'm pretty certain that it's going to get better with time. The sangiovese is a nice touch, very creative, and it bodes well for future releases from Maynard and Eric. Off to the wine shop...

  • Color: Garnet/Ruby

Smell: Holly Sh!t! This wine has a killer nose of funk, earth, floral tones, and dark fruit.

Taste: Raspberry, cherry, dark chocolate, blueberry, black berry, clove, and cedar.

Overall: I really thought that I would be panning this wine...the last time I had it there was absolutely nothing special about it...and it seemed like a dull fit in the "new world" wine arena. However, This is anything but dull...and far from "typical" when I think of wines made in America. I'll be the first to claim that I'm more a Franc-o-file when it comes to wine...but this reminds me of something strait out of Tuscany...there are some sweet fruit notes on the nose after initially opening...but given time everything just seems to blossom. I could not be more pleased with this...and I wish I had save the other bottles I had of this. I hope the 2004 Sensi eventually hits this quality given some time sideways. I am so glad I have bought some of the 2007's before they are gone...I will be waiting until 2012 to check in on them...well maybe I'll have to look at one of them early on.

  • Medium ruby with a cranberry fade at the rim, 85% opaque clear & sound. Notes are after a short 30min breathe. Large nose leading with cherry and red fruit, followed by latex and earth notes. Rich and deep palate of nice red fruit and backed with good acidity. Very long finish where I feel the tannins are just hitting their sweet spot of age. After the 2-3 hour mark, this was as good as any Super Tuscan I've had. Not the celebrity novelty I thought it might be and I find this outstanding and delicious. Based on prior reviews, i think y'all opened 'em too early (5+11+18+8) = 92
