Fairly developed on the nose with some coffee and caramel smells along with smoked meats and sous bois. The palate is better than the nose and there are some rich savoury flavours overlaying tea leaf tannin structure. It has a pleasant vinous sweetness and reasonable length.

The 55’ was correct. Bottle # 011491 and stamped Nicolas. A good wine, not great with secondary notes and decaying flowers on the nose. Still holding structural integrity.

Third rendition of Avery Family Cellar Wine Dinner - Root day and '14 DRCs to the rescue! (Mirabelle restaurant, Washington D.C.): Brilliant ruby. Unfortunately noticeable VA. Shy sweet red fruit, apple vinegar, apple cider, mushroom, caramel and cedar. Exceptional concentration and incredibly sweet palate. Defective nose, 96 point palate.
