  I loved this wine---minerality (is that a word?) stands out. We decanted for 2 hours.

  Sometimes trying a new wine is a discovery; sometimes it's a dead end. This rustic and diffuse Pope Valley Cabernet is the latter. It has enough vague character to not be infuriating, but it is miles away from impressive. Garnet in color; full in body; nose of boysenberry, cedar, and pencil lead. Flavors of blueberry, leather, and browned toast, with a dry and grainy finish. Blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 14.8% alcohol.
  
  This reminded me of Alexander Valley Cabernets I’ve tried (but not really enjoyed) over the years - yes, they achieve ripeness, but they lack the integration and density of wines from vineyards farther south. I understand this is a relatively new estate, so maybe it’s a matter of getting started (in which case, charging $150 is ridiculous). Even in the Never Never Land that is Napa pricing, this wine isn't worth half that amount.

  mocha, leather, lilacs, chocolate mint, fresh sourdough bread, ripe and firm tannins
  we almost ordered a case for cellaring
