Decanted across 2 hours. Nose medium intensity yielding aromas of vanilla, oak and baking spices although the fruit is rather extracted and jammy: blackberry, plum, and peppery. All very sweet smelling. Palate initially alcoholic, bitter and off balance, in stark contrast to the nose. This is what 15% tastes like in a Shiraz I mean Syrah (sigh). Dry, med acidity, high alcohol, med tannins, med body. Med flavor intensity of the muddled variety. Acceptable wine.

Nose of cake batter— vanilla, chocolate— is there any fruit there? Hard to tell, hiding behind a gigantic barrel of oak apparently. Texture, similarly, reminiscent of cake batter. Struggling through a glass of this and will try again tomorrow. Admittedly i often find this appellation heavy-handed but this…. Takes the cake.

Fine, lifted, refined Shiraz. Engages the senses. Perfume of wildflowers. Palate reflects the nose. It truly engages the senses. Medium weight Northern Rhone. No pretense. Beautifully engaging as French wines can uniquely be. Well made. Now for maybe 10 years.

Black pepper and wet earth add a lot to the ripe, chewy fruits. Richly textured, sweet and lively, the spice and freshness gives a lot of lift and staying power in the finish.

Weit überdurchschnittlich, immer noch mitten in der Fruchtphase, macht sehr viel Spaß.
