Bright acidity balanced by wafts of raspberry and black cherry fruit, with peppery, lightly balsamic tones. I've always appreciated the Gordon's winemaking, there's something about Halcon wines I really enjoy, a tension underneath the fruit that gives liveliness. Great food wine, served with pork tenderloin braised in a white wine reduction...well it was California sparkling, but it's what we already had opened for Easter 2024. This has plenty of life to go.

Quite fine and pretty. More brightly fruit-forward and floral than other interpretations of Oppenlander, this feels very Halcon in its style. Quite succulent and juicy on the palate and held together by some nicely managed tannic structure. Feels a little sharp and carbonic (acid, not maceration, though it feels like there's a touch of that, too) on initial opening; a splash decant and half an hour helped open this up. Excellent now but not yet at peak - try again in 2 years. $33. 90+

Stemmy sweet cherry, loamy soil, flowers, cardamom, nervy acid, some tannins still but medium-light body. Delicious

Whole clusters evident in vegetal characteristics. Mostly red fruits. Good qpr at $26.

Strongly medicinal on the palate. A bit more fruit forward than I expected with a peppery finish. Good but not great
