Sophisticated nose of some distinction . Tertiary notes mixed with expressive red cherry fruit - pleasant. There is earth but no particular leafy or mushroom flavors. The ‘just” ripe fruit of 1993 on the palate - every last ray of September's sunshine was needed - blends seamlessly now with complex soft gently sweet red fruit. The slightly roasted hint of 1993. Mid plus weight. Good acid. Fully integrated soft tannin. Still elegant, as befits a Volnay. Not tired at all. Drinks easily. Holding up really well. Reassuringly wonderful - testimony to retaining ones faith in aged Volnay not just being interesting but completely delicious. Upside surprise. Bought on release.
(The label on this bottle - a Weygandt import into the USA - makes no mention of Reyane but I assume it is the same wine)
