  • Amazing wine. Med transparency ruby with notable rim variation. Smells of dried bull rushes and black tea. Freshly turned clay soil. Leather and withered cherry and cooked plum and inside of old garden shed. extremely long and full mouth smooth rounded off-dry finish.

  • Nose is tomato — the fruit, the stems, the leaves — somewhat herbal, meaty as well. Palate is nice; very earthy, barnyard, pepper — both black and green — with black licorice (anise). The tannins still have some grip, which surprises me after 15 years, but soft all in all. Complex, mature, enjoyable, and very fun. Had this bottle sitting around for three years after receiving it as a Christmas gift, and enjoying the gift yet again.

  • Medium bodied old world red. Popped in poured table side. Some nice light fruit with a subtle nose. Pallet spanned the earthiness of a French Rhone with the light fruit of the Grenache combined with some aging gave a nice start to finish wine. Someone at dinner side one that had a taste mentioned that they could identify taste of pepper in this wine. Definitely in a good place now, not sure what more aging would do for this.

  • This wine is showing in prime form right now. It has a medium-body, with really pleasant acid and tannin in perfect harmony right now.

The bouquet is of red fruit (think sweet cherries and ripe plums), along with a hint of forest floor, mushrooms, and tar. Maybe a hint of anise in there as well.

The flavor profile is similar to the bouquet, still showing a strong core of fresh red fruit (cherries and strawberries for me), some umami flavors (maybe soy sauce or caramelized mushrooms), and finishing with a distinct note of black licorice. Finish is medium to long.

I think this wine is excellent right now; it could last another year or two, but I don't know why you would hold it...DRINK.
