Very drinkable after a 1 hour decant through rabbit. Opened up that much more after 2 hours, so worth opening in advance. More-ish, if just slightly thin and slightly jammy. No need to wait.

2 hr rabbit decant. A lovely crushed raspberry taste at first. Round and highly drinkable, but not wow! Just a touch of boiled jam? Probably on it’s drinking plateau.

Monthly Tuesday group #001: Pomerol (By me): This is a 100% Merlot wine of 26 years old vines from the plateau. A very creamy and clearly Merlot bouquet with red and dark berries. On the palate very round with red fruits and chocolate, a bit lactic still, good acidity and round, soft tannin. Red currant acidity in the finish. Elegant style. Still a bit too young. Wait at least until 2018. Will probably drink nicely 3+ years after that. 89 - 90

A lighter side of Pomerol. Needed 1 hour in decanter to smooth out. Medium garnet color. Nose of red currant, raspberry, baking spice, truffle, caramel, and subtle oaky vanilla. Medium-bodied, slightly thin on the palate. Tannins in check for such a young wine, but still need some rounding out. Medium-plus finish. A good buy.
