Dinner and drinks at Thomson. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of lovely citrus lemon oil, white peaches, stone fruits, underlying hints of chalk and stone minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, nicely high acidity, medium alcohol (13.3%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lovely balanced sweet citrus lemon oil, white peaches, stone fruits, bits of stony minerality in background. Slight lemon curd. Long finish. Very good quality. Awesome showing. So drinkable. Burgundian feels, perhaps just lacking the strong lick of minerality to bring it to the next level up.

Incredible Chardonnay from Paul Lato and the Hyde vineyard. While all of Paul’s Chardonnays are excellent, this one was definitely a cut above. Deeply flavored yet not heavy or overbearing. Lemon curd, hazelnut and perfect balance. Enjoyed this during the afternoon with a Hudson 2018 Seashell and the Lato more than held its own. Wonderful wine from a talented producer.

Excellent wine. Restrained style but with plenty of flavor. The combination of a talented winemaker and a great vineyard really produced a fine wine. Late was able to tame the sometime sly beastly Hyde Vineyard to produce a wine of restraint and elegance while maintaining plenty of fruit. Job well done.

Extraordinary. Triggered olfactory sensory memory. What chardonnay this reminiscent of? Marcassin Hudson Vineyard bottlings from "back in the day". No surprise when Googled Hudson Vineyards, mere 6-minute drive from Hyde Vineyards. Meyer lemon, hazelnut, underlying minerality, gorgeous mouthfeel with striking balance. To my palate, as Robert Parker liked to proclaim, a tour-de-force.
