A remarkable domestic wine, shows a lot like a Cornas. Ripe, black and fruity, but also spearmint and crushed rock. Restrained in the palate. Hefty structure, but fine grained. Young - will definitely continue to develop, but certainly nothing wrong with opening this now. I foresee a peak about 5 to 7 years from now.
Way young but thought with a case I should try one early on. Deep purple color with bright clear rim. Black berries, dark plums, pencil lead, olives and peppery notes leap from the glass. Palate is full and complex, further underlining the pepper, olives and black fruits with suggestions of grilled beef and smoke on the back on the palate and on the huge finish. Big tannins with plenty of acid balance this wine quite well. Should develop gorgeous tertiary qualities oner the next 10-15 years.
