  • This was a well built wine but did not really open up on the for me. Full bodied and dark in the glass. I got some dark red fruit, and strong oak notes. Tannins were well formed and integrated. Good acidity. Long finish.

Had a glass left in the bottle the next day and certainly more open but very concentrated and and heavy.

I would hold a couple years or at the very least give it a double decant. No rating since it felt too closed for me to assess.

  • I was a bit worried with Max S’s recent review as I trust his opinion. Nose is very Bevan in style, I don’t get the green cab Franc flavor but I do get a lot of stewed over-ripe fruits finishing with a lot of pyrazines (so maybe a little cab franc ;) ). Cherry, red currants, blackberry, raspberry, dried violets, dried tobacco leaf, finishing with a long vanilla and toasted oak profile that coats the palate. This has great balance and a velvety texture that I love. This is an in your face new world bomb, and to me is very enjoyable (when I’m in the mood for such a wine). It’s missing in the complexity department, although perhaps it would come out if the fruit would ever diminish with age. I drank this as a PnP and the tannins were surprisingly refined and balanced with the fruit (medium). The acidity is much higher than expected given the last review as my mouth was watering after every taste.

  • My same notes as before hold true but really have struggled with Bevan recently. It’s still good and high quality but green (like Cab Franc) on the first night and a Starbucks vanilla latte on the second. Low acid and low tannins both nights.

To be fair if you enjoy super big Napa Cabernet this is lights out. Personally I think high end Napa is all starting to taste the same.

  • Very good wine. Popped and poured it. Kept getting better in the glass over a few hours.
