  Garnet, dense. Blackberry, Cavaillon melon, eucalyptus on nose. Licorice and mandarin on tongue. long finish yet with complementary astringency. Lovely, dense, quintessentially Napa!

  This bottle was good at opening. Dark and inky like a petite Sirah should be. Full of blackberry and huckleberry fruit, it has lots of peppery balance. While not quite as voluptuous as the 2016 yet, it has lots of power and acidity to last for several years.

  Enjoyable wine, good to excellent, with nice flavors, aromas, and complexity, but some sharp edge at this point. I would not be surprised to see this get better or worse with time, so I am not sure how to guide you on consuming your bottles.
  
  Nice balance of dark fruit, vanilla, and oak on the nose. Extremely dark, with some beautiful pink around the edges. Deep flavors of blackberry and pomegranate, undergirded by forest floor, with black pepper and a lesser amount of white pepper above it all. A little too much alcohol, but after a 2.5 hour decant that is moderating.
  
  For now I recommend a 2 hour decant and think this will improve for 2 or 3 years. However, I may revise that opinion later.

  Very nice but not overpowering. Opened up a bit on the second night which improved the balance. Will pay more attention on the next bottle i open.
