Excellent wine. Fleshy Chambolle character with nice underlying structure. This was double decanted just prior to consumption. Very enjoyable. and stunning value.

Consistent again with our note of about a year ago — and we also agree with a note directly below. Will add: this had impressive staying power over four nights, and seemed to become even more harmonious and integrated over that time.

Said to come from 50 year old vines. PnP in Burg glass and slow ox before dinner for 90 minutes. Semi translucent red color. This benefited a lot from the slow ox as it started leaner and less smooth than where it ended up. Earth and spice abound on both the nose and palate along with mineral and raspberry. Was hard to pass up $36 for an '05 Chambolle with 13 yrs on it. Pretty much a steal but don't see this producer making true head turners. Just a very good, under the radar, value that represents classically styled Burgundy well. Hell, what can you buy in the US with this much character and btl age, for $36??? Just grabbed one so won't find out where this ends up. 90+

Medium ruby. Deep, concentrated. The 10 year old note below referencing iron still rings true — it has such a pronounced, but pleasant, edge framing its dark fruit. A nice touch of earth, sans funk. Decently lingering finish. Very enjoyable over three nights.

(Tardy Jean Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets) Medium, medium-plus colour. A deep, slightly baked fruit impression intertwined with a dark oak note - I think the oak is influencing the fruit. In the mouth the texture’s okay but I have the impression there’s some dissolved gas here making the tannin a little forward and the acidity slightly prickly. There’s some extra dimension, but it’s clearly not showing its best. Day 2 and the nose starts less interesting, but slowly a red-currant note tries to assert itself. The ‘rasp’ that I associated with dissolved gas is still there on the palate, though the tannin seems less forward. Tight? For sure, but versus some other village chambolles I could mention there’s little here that demands a second look…
