When I think of Chateauneuf du Pape I always associate it with red wine. This is an excellent wine estate and don’t miss their special red cuvées Chante le Merle and A la Gloire de mon Grand Père (almost 100% red Grenache). This is their white wine made from about 40%Clairette, 30% White Grenache and 30%Bourboulenc and although very good it doesn’t reach the level of their red wines. Aromas of peaches and pears and a nice minerality but a bit heavy an lacking some freshness.

All the honeysuckle, white peach and juicy, fresh citrus with the cut of minerality is working really well here, especially in the finish, with all of its freshness and ripe fruits. You can enjoy this on release. Drink from 2022 - 2029

Bosquet des Papes Zoom Tasting. Tasted in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of yellow flowers, ripe peaches, white pear, fine spice, light background minerality. Flowers more waxy like with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, good high acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe peaches, tangerine, melons, white pear, citrus lemon, fine spice, light stony background minerality. Medium+ to long finish. Good quality. Nice relatively complex ready drinking young CdP blanc. Could develop into a waxy honeyed CdP blanc, but personally I prefer such whites young. 45% Clairette, 35% Grenache Blanc, 20% Bourboulenc.
