A Grenache-dominant blend that includes an unspecified amount of Syrah, Gabriel Meffre's 2019 Vacqueyras Saint-Barthélémy serves up an aromatic array of red fruits that are accented with Provençal herbs, pickling spice, licorice and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, fresh, unoaked and softly tannic, it delivers flavors in line with the nose and stays solid on the mid-palate. Although the importer (Boisset America) labels this wine as having 14% alcohol, the actual number (per the producer) is 15%; despite this, the wine throws no alcoholic heat at the proper serving temperature of 60-65°F. Medium in length and energetic on the back end, this is a delicious, easy-drinking red that could reel in some white wine drinkers. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and allowed three hours in carafe prior to serially sampling over the ensuing two hours. I'm not sure how much air this actually requires, as it was fully expressive and stable throughout the tasting interval. Drink now-2027.

Solid smooth med bodied wine - Blackberry with a hint of White Pepper. Med Acid & Tannins with a lengthy finish - touch woody - Good every day red for having with dinner

Herbs, red berries and garrigue in the bouquet. On the palate garrigue and pleasant acidity, ripe fruits, a slight touch of sweetness and mild tannin. The wine improved considerably over the last 9 months.

In the bouquet red and dark berries, cherries and some garrigue. On the palate juicy red berry fruits, garrigue, a touch of bell pepper and good acidity. Still very youthful. Better wait until 2025+.
