The aroma was very intense from the very beginning, it didn't seem recently disgorged (probably due to the long lees ageing) but complex and ready to enjoy. The fruity side is dominated by almost overripe apples and pink grapefruits, but blackberries, cherries, maraschino cherries, plums, lemons and limes are very present too; some candied fruit, freshly baked bread, toasted pecan nuts, and a very obvious royal jelly and honey note; medicinal, camomile, white pepper and cardamom; sea salt and metallic feeling; smoke and burning fireplace with an oxidative mushroomy finish.
The color is marvellous, very intense gold; the acidity is very high due to the recent disgorgement but it never feels tol aggressive nor unintegrated in this very concentrated, sapid and complex wine. Such a fantastic 2002!
