  • Per my last note, this really takes about a day to open up (open 4-6 hours then vinovac overnight, and open again for a few more hours). This is drinking really hot right now out of the bottle, with the alcohol a little overpowering, but this really clears up on day 2. This is a big wine, hard to imagine it's from mountainous soil, but it is delicious and that alcohol needs to "burn off" a bit as it comes in too hot on entry. A really good wine lies underneath. This could use another year or two, or 10 in the cellar. This has the stuffing to last a long time, though it's not the most complex wine, it's an excellent value.

  • Seven months after my first one and the difference is modestly positive. It takes about an hour open to blow off some SO2 weirdness but then it shines. Good on its own or with a wider range of food than many Cali Cabs. Would have been smarter to get a case of this rather than the four I bought. ;)

  • Chocolate oak on the nose, on the palate a blanket of cherry cola, white floral notes and resiny chocolate. This is a phenomenal wine for the price, with my review evolving from an 89 on pop-and-pour (PnP) to a 92 by day 4. This takes time to open up.

It was decanted for probably 20 hours total over the 4 days and used VinoVac to remove air and refrigerated for the length of time that it was open. Can't be this wine at this price point.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 100% Sierra Foothills 35% new French oak (estimated) 15.6% alc.

3/11/23 Update: Drinking better right out of the bottle now, six months later. A monster wine. Really great. It can be a tinge raisiny, but if you're looking for power, this is it.

  • Still quite young and aggressive, but there's some delicious flavors hiding within the brambles and malo of this young Cab. Certainly a crowd pleaser, but there's more to it than just being a tasty drink with a sweet face. It has a generous bouquet of dark berries with a topping of vanilla and Christmas spice.. The palate and bouquet are straightforward and in your face but you can tell it will have better things to say down the road. Right now, it is all about power. 5+12+17+8= 92

  • Right out of the bottle it had a fairly ok nose, but initial taste sampling left me a bit shy of satisfied with the purchase. Figured I better let it breathe for a bit. 2 hrs later the taste had broadened a bit more, but I still found the wine on whole lacking in robustness, flavor, finish. Just ok and the shipping cost made it almost not so.
